A Valentine’s Day Card for My Husband
Valentine’s Day is less than 10 days away. Are you ready? I’m getting prepared by making my husband’s card ahead of schedule. Woot! Woot!
When I sat down to design this card I wanted to incorporate some current events. The Lunar New Year just passed us by and we are now in the Year of the Earth Pig. I sat down and thought about how I could some how combine any of that in to a card. After a while, memories watching old Bruce Lee movies with my older brother came to mind then mangas that I read in high school. That’s when I got my inspiration. On every manga that’s been translated to English there is a huge sign that says “STOP, you might be reading this the wrong way”. It’s a little note to let English native readers know to read the book with the spine on the right and to open the book from right to left.

Looking back, I think I had some of influence from Eastern cultures as a child and that might have had something to do with my brother and maybe a little bit because of the Wu-Tang Clan. Anyway, I decided to have my card open the same way, from right to left. My husband might not get it at first but it will be a great way to share with him some of my past (and why I have 6 volumes of Absolute Boyfriend on the shelf).
To show you how I made this card, I created a little video above. It’s super short and won’t take you long at all to watch.
